Viswanathan Anand, Juara Dunia Catur 2012

Viswanathan Anand akhirnya berhasil mempertahankan gelar Juara Dunia Catur dengan mengalahkan penantangnya Boris Gelfand dalam pertandingan tiebreak Rapid yang sangat menegangkan dengan skor 2,5-1,5 menyusul hasil imbang 6-6 sebelumnya. Dengan demikian Anand telah mempertahankan gelar yang dia raih dalam turnamen di Mexico City tahun 2008 itu untuk  ketiga kalinya, setelah mengalahkan Kramnik di Bonn 2008 dan Topalov di Sofia 2010.
